"I have been a TDP fellow for almost 3 years now.  TDP has been fundamental to my development.  I've been called a “Teacher Activist", which is the best compliment anyone has given me.  When I first started meeting with TDP I was very frustrated with teaching in Baltimore City compared to Montgomery Co.  Nothing seemed to make sense. In Montgomery Co. we took for granted that teaching conditions were supposed to help teachers help students. In Baltimore I was founding that none of the rules and restrictions made sense, but I didn’t know where to start pushing back. I needed a group of teachers to work with outside my school to look at the problems I was seeing. Then I found Helen and the other fellows. With the support of TDP I am focused on: getting the union chapter committee started within my building, designing a petition to change the way we vote for the union leaderships, launching BMORE, getting restorative practices to work in my school, helping to organize for the Free Minds Free People Conference, and continuing to work on UCORE at a national level.  I am very busy but when I need help I now have a group of people to call on."
